Fulltext PDFA new approach to cartilage costal carving for auricular reconstruction is presented taking advantage of the strong synchondrosis present between the 6th and 7th costal cartilages. It allows a strong and less time consuming framework while requiring less wire fixation loops than in Nagata's traditional framework. The resulting floating helical curvature creates an auriculotemporal sulcus from the beginning and the frameworks projection can be tailored according to the needs of the patient.
